Baseball has always been one of those things I’ve enjoyed watching, especially when players like Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani step up to the plate and the whole stadium goes quiet for a second. So today, I’m excited to walk you through how to draw a baseball yourself, because whether it’s for a school assignment or just something fun to try at home, this is one drawing that comes up a lot.
And here’s something that surprised me when I first found out: a baseball is held together by exactly 108 double stitches. That’s a lot of tiny loops for such a small ball! If you’ve ever wondered how to draw a baseball, here’s an easy step by step tutorial that will help you create a simple and easy baseball drawing.

Difficulty Level: ⭐⭐ 2/5
Suitable for: Kids and beginners
Drawing Time: Around 2 minute
Let’s get started!
Please note: In each step, the new parts of the drawing will be highlighted in orange, while everything you’ve already drawn will stay in black.
Step 1: Draw the baseball’s main circle

To start our baseball drawing, we need a solid foundation. For that, start by drawing a large circle in the center of your paper.
This will be the main shape of your baseball. Try to draw it as round as possible, but don’t worry if it’s not perfect.
Step 2: Draw the curved stitch lines

Now we need to give our ball its iconic shape. If you look at a real ball, the leather is held together by two long seams that curve around the surface. We are going to represent those by drawing two simple curved lines.
These lines should curve in opposite directions from each other. They will divide the baseball into sections where the stitches will go.
Step 3: Add the baseball stitches

Now draw small curved stitch marks along each of the curved lines.
These stitches should look like little “V” shapes repeating along the seam. Make sure one side of the V is facing upward while the one next to it faces in the opposite direction. This is what gives the baseball its real stitched look.
Coloring and motion lines

You can now color the stitches red and outline the ball with a black sketch pen.
If you like, you can also add a few light lines beside the baseball to make it look like it’s moving quickly through the air.
We’re all done

And that’s it—you’ve just learnt how to draw a baseball. If you liked this tutorial, don’t forget to share it with your friends.
I’ve attached a full step by step picture so you can save it and draw later at your own pace. Keep practicing, and soon, you’ll be able to draw a cool baseball drawing easily. Happy drawing!
