Hi everyone, welcome to Simple Easy Drawing! Today, we’re going to learn how to draw a snail step by step. If you’ve been looking for a snail to draw that’s simple and fun, you’re in the right place. This is an easy snail drawing you can finish in just a couple of minutes. You don’t need to be “good at art,” you just need a pencil, a piece of paper, crayons and a few minutes to follow along.
Snails are gentle, slow-moving creatures with a beautiful spiral shell on their backs. They’ve been around for millions of years, living everywhere from gardens to deep oceans. One of the most interesting things about them is that their shell grows with them — it’s not something they can leave behind. That little spiral is both their home and their shield.
Here’s a simple guide to help you draw your own snail from start to finish.
Materials you will need:
- A piece of paper
- An HB pencil
- A dust-free eraser
- A black sketch pen for outlines
- Crayons or color pencils for coloring

Let’s get started
Tip: In each step, the new lines will be highlighted in orange, while the parts you’ve already drawn stay in black.
Step 1: Draw the shell

Begin by drawing a circle in the middle of your page. This will be the main shape of the snail’s shell. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect — a little wobble makes it look more natural.
Step 2: Add the body

From the right side of the circle, draw a smooth curved line that comes down and around to the left, forming the snail’s body. Connect it to the left side of the shell so it looks like the shell is resting on top of it.
Step 3: Draw the spiral pattern

Inside the circle, draw a spiral starting from the center and slowly working outward. Keep the space between the spiral lines even so it looks neat and balanced.
Step 4: Add the antennae

At the front of the snail’s body, draw two short lines pointing upward. Curve them slightly so they look natural. Add a small dot at the top of each one — those are the snail’s eyes.
Step 5: Outline your drawing

Once you’re happy with your sketch, go over it with a black sketch pen. This makes the lines bold and clean. Add two tiny dots for eyes and a curved line for the mouth to give your snail a friendly face.
Step 6: Color it in

Color the shell with warm tones like orange, brown, or red, and the body with greens or yellows. You can use crayons, markers, or colored pencils — whatever you have at home.
We’re all done
And that’s it, you’ve just finished your own snail drawing.

I’ve included the full step by step image above so you can save it and practice again later. There’s also a printable version with just the outlines so you can color it however you like.
