Hi everyone! This time, I’m sharing 33 easy things you can draw that are fun, simple, and relaxing. Whenever I run out of ideas to draw, I usually come back to this little collection. These are all simple drawing ideas that I’ve enjoyed drawing over time, and I think you’ll enjoy them too.
The best part is that you don’t need to be an artist to try these. Most of these tutorials use basic shapes, easy lines, and just a few simple details, and are perfect for even absolute beginners. Some are cute, some are everyday objects, and others are inspired by nature or the seasons. If you’re looking for easy drawing ideas that are relaxing and enjoyable, you’re going to love this collection.
Let’s get started! Here are 33 easy things to draw today:
1. Saturn

Let’s begin with one of my favorite planets. Saturn is actually much easier to draw than you might expect. We mainly use a circle and a few smooth curved lines to create the whole planet. Once you’ve finished, try coloring it with soft yellows, oranges, and light browns.
2. Duck

A duck is one of those cute things you can draw in the the corner of your sketchbook. I like how a few simple curves can turn into a cute little bird in just a few minutes. Once you’ve drawn the body, adding the beak, eye, and tiny wing really brings it to life. You can check out the easy duck directed drawing tutorial here.
3. Low battery

This low battery icon only takes a minute or two to complete, making it perfect when you want a quick doodle. It’s also a nice way to practice drawing straight lines and rectangles while creating something everyone instantly recognizes. Small drawings like this are great for representing your mood and filling empty spaces in your sketchbook.
4. Paper Clip

A paper clip might seem like an unusual thing to draw, but it’s actually a great little exercise. Since it’s created with one continuous curved line, it’s perfect for practicing smooth pencil control. I always enjoy sketching everyday objects because they remind me that inspiration can come from almost anything sitting on your desk.
5. Frog

Big round eyes, a smiling mouth, and a simple little body are all you need to make a cute frog. Once you’ve finished, try adding a lily pad, some flowers, or even a tiny dragonfly to create a fun nature scene around your drawing. Check out my full step by step frog drawing tutorial here.
6. Avocado

If you’re looking for fun food drawing ideas, an avocado is a great choice. Its simple oval shape and large seed make it really beginner friendly, while the different shades of green make it fun to color. I also love adding a little smiling face to mine, but you can leave it plain if you prefer a more realistic look.
7. Baseball

A baseball is much easier to draw than most people think. Once you’ve sketched a nice circle, all that’s left are the curved stitching lines that give it its classic appearance. It’s a great reminder that small details can completely change a simple shape. If you’re enjoying sports drawing ideas, this one is definitely worth trying. Find the step by step drawing lesson here.
8. Bird

Birds are one of the first things I wrote a drawing tutorial on, and I still enjoy drawing them today. This easy drawing tutorial keeps everything nice and simple by using easy curves for the body, wing, and tail. When you’ve finished the bird, try placing it on a tree branch or adding a bright sunny sky behind it to complete the picture. Check out my step by step bird drawing tutorial here.
9. Bread loaf

A loaf of bread might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but it’s actually one of my favorite easy drawing ideas. The rounded shape is simple to sketch, and the curved cuts across the top make it instantly recognizable. If you feel like adding more, you could turn it into a breakfast scene with butter, jam, or a warm cup of coffee beside it.
10. Headphones

Headphones are a fun mix of straight lines and smooth curves, making them a great drawing to practice. Start with the headband, then add the two ear cups on either side. I like this one because it’s clean, simple, and easy to customize. You can even imagine your favorite music playing while you finish the drawing.
11. Light bulb

A light bulb is one of those cute drawing ideas that’s much easier than it looks. Start with a rounded bulb shape, then add the small base suspender by a wire on top. You can leave it simple or draw little rays around it to make it look like it’s glowing. It’s a fun little sketch you can draw on the top corner of your paper and always turns out looking great.
12. Calendar

This is one of those everyday drawing ideas that’s both simple and practical. I like adding my birthday or another important month to my calendar drawing just to personalize it a little. You can decorate yours with small doodles around the edges too.
13. Sail boat

Whenever I draw a boat, I imagine it gently floating on a calm lake or sailing across the ocean. This is a perfect representation of how many of us would imagine summers. To add a more personal touch, you can add a few gentle waves, some clouds, or even a bright sun to create a peaceful little seaside scene. Here’s a full step by step drawing tutorial for this sail boat.
14. Umbrella

Draw a classic umbrella and you could turn it into a colorful beach umbrella by adding bright stripes, or keep it as a rainy-day umbrella with a few raindrops falling around it. I like how such a simple shape can be used in so many different ways. Check out my easy step by step drawing tutorial here.
15. Lemonade

Nothing reminds me of summer quite like a cold glass of lemonade. This drawing is made from simple shapes, but the little details like the lemon slice and straw make it really stand out. Once you’ve finished, you could even draw a picnic, a beach towel, or some sunshine around it to complete your summer picture. Here’s an easy tutorial on how to draw this lemonade drink.
16. Crab

Crabs have lots of little legs, but don’t let that fool you. When you draw them one step at a time, they’re actually very simple. I always start with the round body before adding the claws and legs. Once everything comes together, you’ll have a cute little crab that’s perfect for a beach or ocean drawing. If you’d like to learn, I’ve broken this drawing down into simple steps in my tutorial here. Try it now.
17. Bee

Bees are small, cheerful, and surprisingly easy to draw. A few rounded shapes, tiny wings, and some stripes are all you need. I like adding a dotted flight path behind the bee because it makes the drawing look playful. I have a full drawing tutorial that will show you exactly how to draw this bee. Have a look.
18. Rose

Rose is my most favorite flower. I like starting from the center and slowly working my way outward until the flower begins to bloom. Once you’re done, add a stem and a couple of leaves to complete the drawing. It’s one of those flowers that always looks beautiful. Follow my full drawing tutorial here.
19. Spider web

Spider web can be easily drawn by making straight lines connected by gentle curves, and it’s surprisingly satisfying to watch it come together. You can leave it on its own or add a tiny spider hanging from one of the threads for a fun finishing touch. Here’s my step by step tutorial on how to draw spider web.
20. Snail

Snails are slow movers, but they’re quick to draw! I love how their large spiral shell and tiny body create such a cute little character. Once you’ve finished your snail, try adding some grass, mushrooms, or flowers around it. It turns a simple sketch into a fun little garden scene. This is one of my easiest tutorials, so it’s a great one for you to try next.
21. Turtle

For drawing a turtle, start with the shell, then add the head, legs, and tail one piece at a time. I enjoy adding a simple shell pattern because it gives the drawing a little extra character. You could even place your turtle on a beach or swimming through the ocean. Check my turtle drawing lesson here.
22. Sheep

A fluffy sheep is always fun to draw because you can use lots of soft, bumpy lines to create its wool. I like keeping the face simple with two little eyes and a small smile. If you want to add more to your picture, draw a grassy field, a wooden fence, or a few clouds to create a peaceful countryside scene. If you’re ready to draw this, my full sheep drawing tutorial will help you from start to finish.
23. American football

An American football is much easier to draw than it looks. The main shape is simply an oval with pointed ends, followed by the laces across the middle. I like adding a little shading to make it look more realistic, but it also looks great as a simple outline. If you enjoy sports drawing ideas, this is a fun one to add to your sketchbook. Check my drawing steps here.
24. Baseball bat

A baseball bat is one of the cool things to draw if you want to practice long, smooth lines. Start with the handle, then gradually widen the bat toward the top. It only takes a few minutes to finish, and it pairs perfectly with the baseball drawing from earlier. Together they make a simple sports-themed picture. Here’s an easy baseball bat drawing tutorial if you’d like to try it.
25. Gaming console

If you enjoy video games, this is a fun drawing to try. You can even customize your gaming console by adding your favorite button colors or creating your own imaginary game controller. It’s a simple drawing idea that’s fun to personalize.
26. Stickman Fishing

This drawing combines a simple stickman character with a few extra details. I like how it tells a little story instead of being just a single object. Start with the person, then add the fishing rod and fish to complete the scene. This remind me a lot of my picnic days and holidays.
27. Shooting star

When I was a kid, one of my friends told me she had seen a shooting star while visiting Joshua Tree National Park. I haven’t been lucky enough to see one myself, but ever since then I’ve been fascinated by them and tried to draw them in my journal a few times. That’s why I wanted to include this simple shooting star drawing in this collection.
28. Christmas tree

Even if it’s not the holiday season, I tend to keep drawing a Christmas tree every once in a while on my sketchbook. Start with the layered branches before adding the trunk underneath. Once you’re finished, decorate it with ornaments, lights, or a shining star on top. Here’s a step by step Christmas tree drawing tutorial.
29. Diving

This simple little doodle proves that drawings don’t always have to be about things. It can be about the experiences you have memories of. A stick figure only takes a few lines, and adding wavy lines around it creates a fun swimming scene with very less effort.
30. Mushroom

I don’t know why, but every time I see mushrooms, I think of a quiet walk through a forest trail. Places like the Great Smoky Mountains are full of little surprises like these. Mushrooms are really simple to draw, and you can make your picture even more interesting by adding grass, flowers, or a tiny butterfly nearby.
31. Dog

It’s hard to walk through my neighborhood without spotting someone out walking their dog. That’s probably why I enjoy drawing dogs so much. This tutorial keeps the shapes nice and simple, and once you’ve finished, you can give your dog a tennis ball, a collar, or even a little doghouse to make it feel like your own. Check out my step by step dog drawing tutorial here.
32. Snowman

The funny thing about drawing a snowman is that you don’t need winter to enjoy it. Every December, you’ll see them on holiday cards, store windows, and front yards across many homes. Mine always ends up wearing a scarf and funny-looking. Feel free to give yours its own personality too. Here’s the snowman drawing tutorial with detailed step by step instructions.
33. Rat

I decided to save this little rat drawing tutorial for last because it’s such a fun way to finish the list. With its round ears, tiny whiskers, and long tail, it’s surprisingly easy to draw. You can even add a little piece of cheese next to it to make it look more playful. Sometimes the most unexpected drawing ideas end up being the most enjoyable. Check out my step by step rat drawing lesson here.
