Hi everyone, welcome to Simple Easy Drawing! Today, we’re going to learn how to draw a otter.
Otters are adorable, playful creatures known for their love of swimming and playing in the water. Whether you want to learn how to draw a sea otter or otter (whatever you like to call it), here’s an easy step-by-step tutorial that will help you create a simple and easy otter drawing.
Materials you will need:
- A piece of paper
- An HB pencil
- A dust-free eraser
- A black sketch pen for outlines
- Crayons or color pencils for coloring

Let’s get started!
Please note: In each step, the new parts of the drawing will be highlighted in orange, while everything you’ve already drawn will stay in black.
Step 1: Draw the otter’s head

Start by drawing a half-circle. This will be the head of your otter. Add small round ears on both sides of the top.
Step 2: Draw the otter’s neck

Extend the neck of the otter with two lines, just like the image, with one side longer and curved to form the base.
Step 3: Draw the otter’s lower body

From the ending point of the neck on the left, draw an extending curve shaped like a ‘6’ but not fully closed. This will form the body.
Step 4: Draw the otter’s hands and legs

Draw the otter’s hands and legs as shown in the image. The front hand should be drawn bigger, extending right below the lower neck point.
Step 5: Draw the otter’s tail and connect the body

Now, draw the otter’s tail extending from the lower part of the body. Finish the body by connecting the parts between the hands and legs.
Step 6: Draw the otter’s face

Add the otter’s eyes, nose, and a cute little smile to bring your drawing to life.
Step 7: Define the otter’s face

Draw an inverted ‘U’ shape right below the otter’s nose, extending all the way to the neck. This will help differentiate the color of the otter’s fur.
Step 8: Color and outline

Use your black sketch pen to outline the drawing and then color your otter as you like with crayons or color pencils.
We’re all done!
And that’s it—you’ve just learned how to draw an otter. If you liked this tutorial, don’t forget to share it with your friends.
